1 What is Internet Telephony? [back to top]
You may use your Internet connection to make and receive calls as you would do with your historical telecoms provider. It uses the high-speed Internet and data networks to send and receive calls and faxes thus offering great savings on long distance calls.
2 What does CY.TALK® do? [back to top]
CY.TALK® is a local and long distance calling service that uses the latest technology to combine voice and internet networks to provide quality, reliable and cost-effective inbound and outbound long distance calling solutions. You can use your regular phone connected to a telephone adapter, and phones well as a mobile phone (provided it has internet connection support).

A Caller ID is the number the party receiving a call see displayed on it's phone.
4 How will CY.TALK® help me save money? [back to top]
Individuals and corporations with moderate to large long distance or international call usage can enjoy significant savings. In some countries where the telecommunications business is still under state monopoly the monthly bill can be divided by 20.
5 Can I choose my Caller ID? [back to top]
Yes. You may use your CY.TALK® Worldwide Phone Number as your Caller ID.
6 Can I use a Softphone with CY.TALK®? [back to top]
We do not currently support officially any softphones.
7 When calling other parties, do they also need CY.TALK®? [back to top]
No. Calling from CY.TALK®, you can connect to parties that use any telephone technology (mobile, landline, satellite ...). Calls to regular phones are charged on a per minute basis while those to other CY.TALK® members or number are free.
8 Do I need my computer running in order to receive calls? [back to top]
No. If you are using a device that works without a computer such as a CY.TALK® phone or a telephone adapter, calls will be forwarded to that device; unanswered calls will be directed to the rules you set in your Call forwarding, you can have a maximum of four numbers set to ring one after the other. And if after that you still didn't answer, your call will be sent to your Voicemail.
9 Can I use CY.TALK® from anywhere in the world? [back to top]
Yes, CY.TALK® provides you with complete portability. You can use CY.TALK® from anywhere in the world just by plugging your phone anywhere. All you need is a high speed internet access.
10 Will the CY.TALK® service interfere with my DSL or cable modem data connection? [back to top]
No. The CY.TALK® service routes your incoming and outgoing voice calls right alongside the data being sent to or from your computer. Thus, you can make and receive calls while you use your computer to access the Internet. CY.TALK® uses advanced audio compression techniques to minimize the data traffic caused by voice calls and maximize the bandwidth available for your other Internet traffic.
11 How can I check if my Internet connection and web-browser are compatible with CY.TALK® telephony services? [back to top]

12 Can I receive calls from outside CY.TALK® if I don't have a Worldwide Phone Number? [back to top]
No. Without a Worldwide Phone number you can receive calls only from within CY.TALK®. To be able to receive calls from historical phone operators you will need to subscribe to a Worldwide Phone Number. You can pick from a list of cities from more than 60 countries.
13 What is a Voucher? [back to top]
It is a top-up card you can use to credit the members of your telephony structure or any CY.TALK® member and pay for the services. Each voucher has a face value. To purchase a Voucher click here.
14 How can I delete a Worldwide Phone Number? [back to top]
Sign in to your CY.TALK® account. Select the Phone Numbers page of the Management menu, right click on the number you want to release, and click on the Delete button. You subscription will be active till the end of subscription period.
15 Can I put my CY.TALK® Phone Number on my business cards? [back to top]
Yes. As long as you subscription fees are acquitted, the number is yours.
16 Is there a difference between using DSL or Cable modem when using CY.TALK®? Which one do you recommend to use? [back to top]
Both DSL and cable modems provide sufficient bandwidth to support the CY.TALK® service.
17 Do I need a fixed / static IP to use CY.TALK®? [back to top]
No, you do not need a static IP address to enjoy the advantages of CY.TALK®. CY.TALK® is designed to work in a dynamic address (DHCP) environment, such as that available with most home and office gateway routers.
18 Is there an annual contract? [back to top]
No, there is no term-commitment. You may cancel your service at any time.
19 How do I make a long distance call? [back to top]
Dial 00 + country code + city code + number. Example 00 41 xx xxx xx xx or 00 33 1 xx xx xx xx.
20 How does the sound quality compare to my current phone? [back to top]
You'll find the quality is as good, if not better! Because signals are transmitted and received digitally over the Internet, the quality may very well exceed what you're currently getting.
21 Where is CY.TALK® available? [back to top]
CY.TALK® is a worldwide service. You can subscribe for it and use it from any place connected to the Internet.
22 Is there an activation fee? [back to top]
No.
23 Does CY.TALK® make any discounts on its phone numbers? [back to top]
Yes, the longer the subscription period, the larger the discount!
24 How are payments done? [back to top]
By credit card and vouchers. You can credit your member from the "Add Credit" page. The services use "prepaid" plan model of payment.
25 How do I check my balance? [back to top]
Once you sign in to the CY.TALK® web site, you can manage your profile, calls, reports, billing and caller ids.
